The Town Council comprises 20 councillors (also called members) who are elected every 4 years. The Mayor is elected each year in May.
All Parish Councillors are required by law to complete a register of interests form to register:
their Disclosable Pecuniary Interests; and
the Disclosable Pecuniary Interests of their spouses or civil partners (or persons with whom they live in that capacity)
The Councillors' Register of Interests is kept by the Borough Council and is available online at: www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/homepage/99/parish_council_register_of_interest
On becoming a Town Councillor for Downham Market Town Council we agree to abide by a very clear Code of Conduct. We agree to work for the Community with "Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Openness, Honesty" and Leadership at all times. One of our members has failed to do this on many occasions over the past few months.
Downham Market Town Council wishes to make very clear that the Media postings by Cllr. Lawson in no way reflect the opinions and attitudes of Downham Market Town Council and we divorce ourselves completely from the offensive and bullying content of his postings.

I have lived locally since 1966, but in Downham for over 30 years. I am semi-retired after 37 years as a teacher working in local High Schools, and have been a member of Downham Market Town Council for over 25 years. I am a former Mayor and Chair of both Planning and Community Development committees.
I was instrumental in establishing Downham Arts, and am currently a member of the Downham Twinning Association. I have previously been involved in the Youth Service for this area and this remains a keen interest.
Having been seriously involved with the regeneration programme of 1999/2000 I would like to see a similar evaluation of the town. I would like the Council to actively engage with the community and issues that affect the town; to secure a vibrant future for all; a town in which we can all enjoy living.

My family moved to Downham in 1966 and have lived here ever since. I have lived and worked both locally and across the country before retiring here. Since then, I have developed a wide range of interests, particularly in the Arts, creating a charity to promote the Arts, supporting Downham Dementia, and creating a new business I am a trustee of a local charity supporting people with a range of special needs. I completed a term as a Borough councillor before joining the Town Council in 2019. I am a passionate believer in the town and its future and enjoy being part of the Council and the work it undertakes to develop and deliver a new vision for the town I am very happy to be contacted via firstname.lastname@example.org and hear any ideas and views you may have

I have lived in Downham Market for 46 years and bring 78 years experience from the university of life! My interests are wide and varied and I am a member of the 100 Acre Common Charity and the Downham West Parish Council. I hope to help the town to progress whilst retaining its antiquity and Market Town status.

I have been resident here for 23 years and am a member of the Royal British Legion and Institute of Advanced Motorists. I am a retired builder and was the chairman of school governors for a large comprehensive school. I work to maintain the quality of life enjoyed by residents of the town now and into the future as the town grows. I enjoy crosswords, suduko, and time spent with my family.

I moved to Downham in 2007 and my family all live locally. Having worked as a nurse for over 25 years, I have a wealth of skills including communication and engagement. I also run a successful business and I am a trained mediator and performance coach. I enjoy running, cycling and yoga but most of all I like to spend time with my family and friends.
I would like Downham to be a vibrant community which celebrates diversity, with activities for all. A town proud of it's history but which also looks forward by engaging residents and businesses to shape it's future enabling it to continue to thrive. We need a well led, inclusive Council that engages and listens to its stakeholders, and encourages good relationships, working together for the benefit of the town and wider community, whilst also considering our environmental impact.

I have lived in Downham Market since 2016, and previously whilst living in St Albans I served as District Councillor for 9 years. I joined the Town Council in November last year and although the scope and budget of the Town Council are about 95% smaller than in St Albans, there seems to be almost as much work to do.
Since moving here, I’ve joined the University of the Third Age and the Twinning Club. I also belong to Toastmasters International, which encourages members’ self-confidence, by teaching speaking and leadership skills.
I have settled very quickly into the community, finding residents to be friendly and welcoming. I plan to support the council in its efforts to foster and develop the spirit of the community and should appreciate your comments and suggestions.
Rachel works as a local solicitor. Her two children attended Denver VC Primary School, where Rachel served as a parent governor, as well as at Downham Market High School. In her spare time, she is a keen gardener.

I have lived in Downham Market for 5 years and work to maximise the work opportunities and recreational facilities within the town, especially as the town expands. I bring over 35 years of experience as a Management Consultant on large and medium scale international IT projects. I belong to the Royal British Legion and Royal Naval Association and enjoy DIY and Rugby.

My wife and I moved here in August 2018. I have worked for a number of Councils as a Youth Worker and was previously an official observer for Exeter City Council. I play rugby and I'm also a (very!) amateur musician. I spend a lot of the time causing trouble with my puppy, Charlie! I would like new comers to the town (like myself) to feel part of the town, seeing an increase in both infrastructure and community. I hope to be a voice for the town and a pro-active, positive influence on the community.

I have lived in Downham Market and nearby for 7 years and have been a Councillor since 2016. I spent my career working with the Prudential, mainly in finance and property investment. I am a member of Discover Downham, the U3A, the local Lions Club and the Downham Market Festival Committee. Working with and for the community is what gives me a buzz and I am pleased to be involved in the new Music Festival for September 2019. I hope to help the town become a better place for all to live and work. I am interested in preserving the environment, wildlife and all things historic and enjoy taking my trusty camera (and pretending to be a photographer) on walks in our unique countryside.

I have lived in Downham Market for 15 years, and have been Mayor twice and am past Chairman of the Town Hall and Jubilee Community Centre committees. I hope to help monitor and guide development in the town so that it retains its character. I enjoy clay shooting and gardening.
