Save The Date - The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting

The Council are currently organising The Queen's Platinum Jubilee Beacon Lighting ceremony with St Edmunds Parish Church, lead by Father Mather, who has agreed for us to uplight the church in red, white and blue.


We are pleased to confirm that we are working in partnership with Singers Inspired - Downham Market's Community Choir who will sing A Song for the Commonwealth - A life lived with Grace


Our Town Crier, Ray Wales, will read the Platinum Jubilee Proclamation


Terry Hope will play the bugle call to fanfare called Majesty


We are working with Cream Me Up Scotty and Knicat Bakery to produce a Jubilee Cake and the Official Beacon Tart


Timing are lead by the Pageant Master, Bruno Peek LVO, OBE, OPR and will be confirmed in due course but at present the schedule is:


The Jubilee Proclamation is due to be read by the Town Crier at 2pm on the Town Square


Majesty will be played at 9.40pm to fanfare the lighting of the Beacons at 9.45pm


A life lived with Grace will be sung at 9.45pm
