The Stonecross War Memorial (situated adjacent to the A10 road, opposite Arbuckles) commemorates just two young soldiers who were intrinsically linked throughout the course of their short lives.

The memorial commemorates Lionel Henry Pratt of Ryston Hall and Charles ‘Doox’ Prangley, the son of the then Rector of Bexwell. Poignantly each young life was lost on the same date, exactly a year apart; Pratt aged 25 years on the 25th September 1915 in the capture of Loos in the Pas de Calais region and Prangley aged 19 years on the 25th September 1916 in the capture of Lesboeufs on the Somme.

Each year on/around 25th September the Town Council and the Royal British Legion lay wreaths in their honour.
