    Annual Water Festival Sunday 5th August 2012

    Downham Market Water Festival will be on Sunday 5th August 2012 on the Relief Channel near to the Hythe Bridge. This is the bridge over the water near to Heygate’s Mill on the A1122 to the west of the Town.

    Again the Water Festival Committee are looking for teams of ten rowers plus a drummer to take part in the Dragon Boat Racing. (The teams can have up to 15 members but only 10 plus a drummer will take to the water at any one time.) Each team is assured of three races – more if successful.

    The cost to each team will remain the same as last year - £150 per boat. The teams can be groups from businesses, pubs, clubs or societies or just a group of friends.

    Downham Market has a regular and popular outdoor market every Friday* and Saturday on the Market Place or Town Hall car park, next to the Town Hall 8.30am-4pm.

    *except Good Friday  

     

    Friday and Saturday Craft and Collectable Markets

    The Craft and Collectables Markets offer a variety of locally produce hand made items from pottery to jewellery. They are held on the Town Square 9am-3pm. The Craft and Collectable markets now run every Friday and Saturday, with the exception of Friday 28th October 2011.

     

    The Town Council provides the market stalls 8’x3’, frame & covers at an all inclusive cost of £10.50

     

    General

     

    Pitches are served on a first come first served basis on the day of the Craft and Collectable Market.

     

    A pitch is £10.50 per day. This charge includes the pitch cost and hire of the stall. Cash or cheques (made payable to ‘Downham Market Town Council’) are acceptable forms of payment.

     

    The market stall measures approximately 8ft x 4ft and is sheltered with an overhead cover. The table measures approximately 5.5ft x 2.5ft and is completely sheltered with a marquee.

     

    Stall holders should arrive from 7.00am-8.00am to unload – please note that the stalls might not be fully erected until 8.30am.

     

    Trading is from 9.00am – 3.00pm. Unless weather conditions are severe, traders are asked not to pack up before 3.00pm.

     

    Vehicles may only park on the side of the Town Square to load/unload. The access across the Town Square must be kept clear at all times.

     

    Parking is off site. Long term parking is available on the Paradise Road car park or the Old Fire Station car park.

    The Craft and Collectable markets now run every Friday and Saturday, any exceptions will be notified shortly.

    Although Downham based, the Society meets at Tottenhill because lighting in the town is detrimental to their pursuits.
